Birth Families Located

The following list is comprised of biographical data of children for whom we have located birth families (as of February 2017). It is organized by Province, with the adopting orphanage also detailed. In a few cases the orphanage name is also known. If your child matches this information, please submit your child's DNA to 23andMe (if we have indicated that birth parental DNA is available) or contact us for more information. This list will be updated as more birth parents are located.

Dear Brian, can you tell me a bit more about the family in Xiushan, I know a family who is living in Spain and their child comes from this place. How old must this child be?

A question. How come birthparents don't know the birth date of their child?

There are many possible reasons, one being that sometimes a birth father won't be home when a child is born, a birth mother may not have recorded the date. Families that live on the bottom rung in Chinese society simply don't focus on remembering birth dates. They remember what sign a child was born under, but not the exact date.

HELLO bRIAN AND lAN,

hOW CAN YOU BE SURE THAT THE FINDING- AND DAY OF BORN ARE SURE.WE REAS SEVERAL CHILDS BORN IN 2003, AND HEARD THAT SWI THE FINDING OR "BRING THE CHILD IN"TAKE AS THE DAY THAT THEY ARE BORN. AND LIKE YOU SAY MOST BP"S DONT KNOW AND IS NOT IMPORTANT. SO SUPPOSE OUR CHILD IS FROM 10TH DEC 03 AND "FOUND"ONE WEEK OLD WHAT DOES IT SAY OR PROOF ..AND HOW TO CHECK IN THIAS LIST WITHOUT A NAME OR SPECIALS ? //w.tASSEL

The intent of the list is to have you submit your child's DNA for matching. Do not assume that just because the info does not match that it is not your child's birth parents.

The only way is to match DNA. All of these birth families have submitted DNA for matching.

OUR DAUGHTERS DNA IS WITH 23ANDME , SO WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY HAVE MY SUBMIT , DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT OR NEED TO HAVE THE DNA INFO ?
SHE IS ONE OF THE SHAO YANGSTERS .

hans van maurik said...

DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE THE DNA RESULTS FROM THOSE FAMILIES , ALSO IN 23ANDME ...MY SHAO YANGSTER MATCHING ONLY WITH FAR FAMILY MEMBERS 4TH/5TH GRADE (SORRY IF MY QEUSTIONS ARE DOUBLE BUT IT'S A KIND OF SLOW)

Yes, if your daughter's DNA is with 23andMe, you will receive word if there is a match.

Our daughter's DNA is on 23 & me...no close matches, but a few very distant cousins... Will you be asking or working with people in the Jiangsu Province, specifically Nanjing - Gaoyou area?

Thank you

Brian, We adopted our daughter from Chengdu SWI in 2007. Her stated birth date was 2 June 2000. You provided us a finding ad in 2008. She is now 15 and has shown interest in finding her birth parents. Do you have much information for Sichuan Province and Chengdu SWI? Where would you recommend we begin? Many thanks for your work. regards, Dennis

Before a family does anything, they must learn as much as possible about the overall characteristics of their child's orphanage -- are children found widely scattered, or clustered at a few locations. Are most of the children females, or is there a more even distribution. How many other children were found at the same location? The answers to these and other questions will help inform you as to what steps would be best, and which ones would possibly hurt your chances of success. Our "Birth Parent Search Analysis" compiles all of the data from your child's orphanage and provides answers to these questions and more.

Hi. My daughter: Born 7/4/06. She is now 9. HUNAN PROVINCE. Yeuyang County SWI. I am planning on getting her DNA tested with 23andme.
How do I provide these results to your organization? She is from the Countryside and was in Foster care. I was told when I adopted her that foster mother was to upset to say goodbye. I have always felt that her connection could bring my daughter to learn more about her birth family. This DNA database is so helpful. Thank you.

Once you have submitted your child's DNA to 23andMe, nothing more needs to be done. The rest happens automatically.

Hi Brian. Just curious how the process works on the birth parent side. How do they find out about the program and submit their DNA to 23andme? There was one listing above for my daughters SWI but it was for the parents of a child born 1.5 years after her. Thanks.

They find out from us, or other adoptive families that track them down in China. I would caution families form relying too heavily on the birth dates, as there could be misremembering or orphanage alterations involved.

Hi brian, why are the shao yang parents still on pending after such a long time ?

Research-China.Org said...

We have located and made contact with them, but it is very hard to get to them to collect the DNA.

Brian - If a family is interested in submitting DNA to 23 and me - is it just the Ancestry Service?

Thank you for all of your hard work for so many years.

Research-China.Org said...

Which option you use is completely up to you. Both levels will provide the same ancestry information.

Good luck!!

Brian
